On Tuesday, the National Council for Planning and Building approved an Energy Ministry plan for special electricity areas at gas stations that can charge up to five electric vehicles simultaneously. With this approval, gas stations will also be allowed to build small waiting areas for those charging their vehicles. The Energy Ministry aims to move toward fully electric transportation by 2050. Out of nearly 3.7 million private vehicles on Israel’s roads, only 170,000 are currently electric—about 21%.
